Veterans Welfare Report
April 2021
The Veterans Welfare office remained open during the Christmas / New Year period and had our people ringing and visiting. During this period, many Veterans Independence Programme (VIP) forms were sent to Wellington for veterans support. For those who do not know what VIP is, it is a service provided by Veterans Affairs to assist veterans including those that either served with National Service, Compulsory Military Training, ex-Regular Force and Reservists (Territorial Force). There are a number of VIP services that provide support, so please either connect to the Veterans Affairs website to see what is available or come in and talk to me.
We continue to organise medical reassessments for veterans and support them for their annual medical visits. Sadly, we have also farewelled several veterans who have completed their last parade.
With the RNZRSA COVID Fund which was announced recently, we have applied for assistance for our Veterans and their whanau. We are thankful for this initiative and thank the RNZRSA for this opportunity.
In March, we held presentations for Veterans and their whanau. We held two presentations, first presentation 1300hrs, second at 1800hrs to cater for those that might work during the day. These presentations were a success and if you have any questions or missed the sessions, please let me know.
